Construction of Soundwall in Vacaville Necessitates Daytime Closures of Westbound I-80 Davis Street Onramp and Offramp

SOLANO COUNTY– Caltrans and partner agencies are constructing a soundwall along Hickory Lane near the Davis Street/Interstate 80 onramp and offramp in Vacaville.

Heavy machinery used to complete this work will require occasional daytime closures of the onramp and offramp beginning the week of Monday, Feb. 17 – not, Feb. 10, as previously stated. Local residents should also expect noise and dust during construction.

Work on this project has already begun and is expected to be complete by Spring 2025. Most work is expected to take place during normal daytime working hours. Occasional overnight closures of the Davis Street onramp and offramp may also be required. Crews have installed temporary concrete moveable barriers along Hickory Lane.

This work is related to the ongoing construction of the I-80 Solano Express Lanes Project. For the latest updates and additional project information, visit Caltrans I-80 Solano Express Lanes website.

Rio Vista Bridge Scheduled for Third 55-Hour Closure Beginning Friday, Jan. 10, at 9:00 P.M.
Extensive Detour in Place for State Route 12 Motorists

RIO VISTA – Caltrans is advising motorists of a scheduled closure of the Rio Vista Bridge (Helen Madere Memorial Bridge) on State Route 12 (SR-12) for ongoing repairs.

This $11.24 million project funded through the Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Program will require multiple 55-hour weekend closures for the work to be completed because of the limited width of the bridge to allow for heavy equipment access.

The project is making necessary mechanical repairs and rehabilitating the roadway surface by placing a polyester concrete overlay on the bridge deck. Work also includes replacing bridge rails, repaving bridge approach ramps, and constructing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps.

The weekend closure has been rescheduled to January 10 through 13. Delays for the arrival of bridge materials and a request from the City of Rio Vista has extended the original date. The contractor will be replacing the bridge railings.

These upgrades will improve safety and comply with ADA accessibility requirements to expand access for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The 55-hour weekend bridge closure schedule will lessen total project workdays and help avoid the wait times during peak commute hours during the work week. Motorists could encounter additional travel times of up to two hours using the described detours (see maps provided) from Rio Vista to Sacramento County on SR-12 across the Sacramento River. Please allow for extra travel time to reach your destination, especially for scheduled appointments and work schedules.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.

CLOSURE DATES:
9:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, to 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13

Extensive Detour in Place for State Route 12 Motorists

RIO VISTA – Caltrans is advising motorists of a scheduled closure of the Rio Vista Bridge (Helen Madere Memorial Bridge) on State Route 12 (SR-12) for ongoing repairs.

The 55-hour weekend bridge closure schedule will lessen total project workdays and help avoid the wait times during peak commute hours during the work week. Caltrans urges drivers to follow all construction zone speed limits and to drive with extreme caution as work continues.

To ensure your safety and that of our crews, please follow these Caltrans guidelines when traveling:

Prepare Your Vehicle: Make sure brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater, and exhaust systems are in good working order. Proper maintenance is essential for safe driving in wet and low-visibility conditions.

Check Your Tires: Verify tire pressure and tread depth for optimal traction on wet surfaces.

Use Headlights in Rain: California law requires headlights during rain to improve visibility for yourself and other drivers.

Slow Down and Increase Following Distance: Wet roads increase stopping distances. Give yourself extra space to stop safely and reduce your speed as conditions dictate.

Avoid Sudden Lane Changes: Limited visibility can make lane markers difficult to see. Keep steady in your lane and avoid abrupt moves to maintain control on slick roads.

For up-to-date information on road conditions, including construction zones and weather advisories, please use the Caltrans QuickMap tool at quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
