October 11, 2017: The 1st Annual Benicia Bike Workshop on Saturday, October 21st!

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) and Solano Safe Routes to School is hosting the 1st Annual Benicia Bike Workshop on Saturday, October 21st from 9:00am - 11:30am at the Benicia State Recreation Area West K Street Parking Lot. The event is free of charge and all are welcome to attend.

September 26, 2017: Highway 37 Improvement Plan Informational Open House to be Held in Vallejo Oct 2

SUISUN CITY - Join us for an Informational Open House on the Highway 37 Improvement Plan.

In response to impacts from flooding, increased traffic along the corridor and future sea-level rise, the transportation authorities of Marin, Napa, Sonoma and Solano, in partnership with Caltrans and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, are conducting a Highway 37 Corridor Study to improve access and safety, address flooding, sea-level rise, environmental impacts, and improve mobility along the Corridor.

September 25, 2017: Dixon Summit to Explore Transportation Mobility Solutions for Seniors and People with Disabilities

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) - in partnership with the City of Dixon - will host a community Senior and People with Disabilities Transportation Summit on Thursday, October 12th, at the Veterans Memorial Hall.

September 25, 2017: International Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 4, 2017

SUISUN CITY - The Solano County Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Program team welcomes students back to school and is excited to be working again with schools across Solano County! On Wednesday October 4th, students, families, school and community partners and mayors across the county and around the country will celebrate the benefits of walking and bring light to safety concerns on International Walk to School Day (IW2SD). Last year, 54 Solano schools participated and our goal is to get 70 schools to participate this year.

SUISUN CITY, CA - Solano Bike to Work Day - May 11th, 2017 - is presented by MTC, 511.org and Kaiser Permanente, with promotions organized by Solano Mobility, a program of the Solano Transportation Authority (STA). April 17, 2017: Bike to School Day is May 10th!

SUISUN CITY - Hundreds of Solano County students will strap on safety helmets and pedal to school on National Bike to School Day, Wednesday, May 10, 2017. The annual event focuses attention on the physical and environmental benefits of biking or walking to school instead of commuting by car.

March 1, 2017: 2017 Safe Routes to School Poster Contest Now Accepting Entries!

SUISUN CITY, CA - Solano County elementary and middle school students are invited to show their artistic abilities by designing a poster that tells their classmates why it's good to walk, bike or ride a scooter to school. The poster should show proper use of traffic safety laws, such as wearing a bike helmet, crossing the street in a crosswalk, or riding a bike with the flow of traffic.

November 10, 2016: Solano Transportation Authority Announces Award Winners

SUISUN CITY, CA - The winners of the Solano Transportation Authority's 19th Annual Awards were announced at a ceremony on November 9, 2016. The event was hosted by STA Chair and City of Rio Vista Mayor Norman Richardson at the Veteran's Memorial Hall in Rio Vista.

Mayor Richardson said of the event, "This was an evening to celebrate transportation victories in Solano County. We honored the efforts of the many cities, partner agencies and individuals who have championed transportation projects and programs in our local communities this year."

October 3, 2016: 20th Anniversary of International Walk to School Day Wednesday, October 5, 2016

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Safe Routes to School Program is pleased to announce the participation of 54 Solano County schools in the 20th Anniversary of International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 5th. In 2015, over 10,000 students in 45 schools throughout Solano County skipped the traffic line and walked to school. The Program works to make this an ongoing trend countywide while supporting the health of the students.

September 15, 2016: Caltrans Initiates Paving on State Route 113 in the City of Dixon

Suisun City, CA - Caltrans is starting construction on the State Route 113 pavement overlay project from Interstate 80 to Vaughn road starting Sunday night, September 18th.

April 19, 2016: Ready, Set, Bike to School on National Bike to School Day: Wednesday, May 4th

April 8, 2016: Safe Routes to School "Think Outside the Car" Poster Contest Winners Named

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Safe Routes to School program is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 'Think Outside the Car' Poster Contest. Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade students throughout the county were asked to design a poster encouraging their classmates to walk, bike or ride their scooter to school.

March 17, 2016: May 12th is Bike to Work Day; Nominations Sought for Solano Bike Commuter of the Year

SUISUN CITY CA - May 12th marks the San Francisco Bay Area's 22nd Annual Bike to Work Day when nearly 150,000 commuters are expected to pedal to work or school as part of the National Bike Month.

Bicycling is an easy, efficient and healthy way to get to work, run errands and much more. "Bike to Work Day is the best day to try bicycle commuting for the first time!" says Norm Richardson, Chair of STA and Mayor of the City of Rio Vista.

December 18, 2015: STA Launches New Solano Mobility Call Center and Website

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) has expanded its call center (800-535-6883) and created a new website (www.solanomobility.com) to provide information and tools to help people get around Solano County, specifically for seniors and people with disabilities.

December 11, 2015: STA Seeks Input on Solano Travel Safety Plan

SUISUN CITY, CA - The 2015 Draft Solano Travel Safety Plan has been released by the Solano Transportation Authority for public review and comment. November 6, 2015: Solano Transportation Authority Announces Award Winners

SUISUN CITY, CA - The winners of the Solano Transportation Authority's 25th Anniversary Awards were announced at a ceremony on November 4, 2015. The event was hosted by STA Chair and City of Benicia Mayor Elizabeth Patterson at the Historic Clock Tower in Benicia.

November 4, 2015: Solano Safe Routes to School Program Awarded $3 Million Grant

SUISUN CITY, CA - The Solano Safe Routes to School Program was awarded a grant for $3.067 million by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) under the 2015 regional allocation of the Active Transportation Program on October 28th. Funding is for an SR2S project providing infrastructure improvements at 7 Benicia and Vallejo schools, and education and outreach to 26 schools in Benicia, Rio Vista and Vallejo.

SUISUN CITY, CA - In celebration of 25 years of providing intercity bus service, and to thank the riders of SolanoExpress and invite new riders to try the service, the Solano Transportation Authority, in partnership with Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST) and Solano County Transit (SolTrans) has launched a Facebook contest on the new SolanoExpress Facebook page offering SolanoExpress riders a chance to win one of 25 free bus passes on SolanoExpress.

May 22, 2015: SR 12 Jameson Canyon Named Conventional State Highway Project of the Year

SUISUN CITY, CA - The State Route 12 Jameson Canyon Widening Project was awarded Conventional State Highway Project of the Year by the California Transportation Foundation at their 26th Annual Transportation Awards held yesterday in Sacramento.

May 1, 2015: Mack Halsted Solano Bike Commuter of the Year

SUISUN CITY, CA - Mack Halsted started to bike to work the Monday after the bike lane opening on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in August 2009, and has been riding to work ever since. His 34 mile round-trip journey starts from Fairfield at 4:15am with a peaceful morning ride where he watches the sun rise as he crosses the bridge to Martinez. Mack is the 2015 Solano County Bike Commuter of the Year.

SUISUN CITY - Solano County elementary and middle school students can win a bike, bike helmet and lock by entering the Bike to School Day 2015 poster contest sponsored by the Solano Safe Routes to School program. The winning illustration will also be featured on Bike to School Day posters that will be distributed to Solano County schools to advertise National Bike to School Day on May 6, 2015.

October 29, 2014: Transportation Info Depot at the Suisun-Fairfield Train Station Grand Opening

SUISUN CITY, CA - Solano Transportation Authority (STA) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Transportation Info Depot. The new customer service facility is located at the Suisun-Fairfield Train Station. The Grand Opening celebration will be held on Mon., Nov. 3 from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and will include drawings for free transit passes, including Capitol Corridor, SolTrans, BART, FAST and others.

October 3, 2014: Rio Vista Waterfront Promenade Phase II Project to Break Ground for Construction

September 23, 2014: Local Schools to Join "International Walk to School Day" October 8th

SUISUN CITY, CA - Its not too late for schools to register for the annual International Walk to School Day event Wednesday, October 8th. The sign-up deadline is September 29th. Participating schools will receive incentive items and prizes to celebrate Walk to School Day. The international event began in England in 1994 as a way to urge students to get out of cars and on their feet. Now, its observed in 40 nations around the world with millions of participants who support walkable communities.

September 11, 2014: Sutter Medical Foundation Partners with City of Rio Vista, STA on Transit Connection to Fairfield

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Sutter Medical Foundation is partnering with the City of Rio Vista and the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) on an expanded transit route for those needing transportation between Rio Vista and the Sutter medical office campus at Low Court in Fairfield.

August 22: Solano Countys Safe Routes to School Program Awarded $388,000 Grant!

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved Solano Countys Safe Routes to School Program application for $388,000 under the 2014 Active Transportation Program on August 20. The Solano Transportation Authoritys submission was one of 771 projects seeking funding under this highly competitive State grant program, aimed at supporting projects that will encourage walking and bicycling.

August 15, 2014: Dixon West B Street Pedestrian and Bicycle Undercrossing Project to Open August 18th at 10 am

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Monday, 18th August 2014, at 10:00 am, at the Dixon Transportation Center (220 N. Jefferson Street at West B Street), for the new Dixon West B Street Pedestrian and Bicycle Undercrossing Project in Solano County.

August 11, 2014: Callison Elementary School to Launch Three Walking School Buses

Vacaville, CA - Three Walking School Buses led by school staff before and after school begin Thursday, August 14, at Jean Callison Elementary School in Vacaville.

August 1, 2014: Napa Commute Challenge Rewards Commuters
